Lepidostrobus, Carboniferous; Aachen, GER
Lepidodendron is a genus of what is often described as ''scale trees'' from the Carboniferous period. It was one of the largest plants of its time and grew up to 40 meters tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 2 metres.
Here you see a very well-preserved cone.
