Lepidodendron is a genus of "scale trees" from the Carboniferous period. One of the largest plants of its time, it grew up to 40 meters high with a trunk diameter of up to 2 meters. Certain cones of the scale tree family bear the genus name Lepidostrobus.
Here you can see a particularly beautifully preserved specimen.

The old label is attached to the back of the piece and is included.
