Perisphinctes sp., Jurassic, FRA, in black box
Although Perisphinctes, as one of the earliest ammonite taxa, was assigned many species that later turned out to be other genera, the wide umbilicus and the strong ribbing show that these are Perisphinctes in the narrower sense.
Age: Jurassic, Oxfordian (approx. 155 million years old)
Locality: Poitiers, Vienne department, Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, France
Size: approx. 2 cm
