Product information "Silicified, fossil wood, Permian, GER"

Silicified wood of the Palatinate is predominantly driftwood that was deposited in sandstone and gradually filled and replaced with siliceous rock. The coloration is a result of the iron oxides that give the Rotliegend its name. The most common species from this area is Dadoxylon.

Cut in the middle and very well polished, so the wood structure is clearly recognizable!

Locality: Reichweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany
Size: 14 x 7.5 x 15 cm
