Temperoceras/Michelinoceras, Devonian, MAR
Typical squid shell, the chambers are clearly visible and usually also the sipho!
Temperoceras, described in some boards as Michelinoceras, was an orthocone nautiloid, i.e. a cephalopod with a straight, chambered shell. It enabled floating in the water column through gas exchange, and locomotion was achieved by expelling water. Michelinoceras is one of the earliest and longest-lived genera of cephalopods (Ordovician to Triassic), and among the first to be found with a radula (the typical rasping tongue of molluscs).
Age: Devonian
Locality: Morocco
